The first Corolla was shipped in 1966 and by 1974, the Toyota Corolla had become the best-selling car in the world. In announcing the sale of 40 million cars, the Japanese manufacturer said that cars were selling out of dealers so fast that they didn’t know who owned them. So far, total sales of C-segment models have exceeded 43 million units.
